Janina “Nina” Steele is a Hair Stylist, MUA, and Wax Technician based out of Birmngham, Alabama and the owner of J. Steele Artistry LLC and J. Studios LLC. In 2011, she began her Makeup Artistry journey by practicing and perfecting her craft with the help of friends and family members. She fell in love with it. So, after 8 years of service in the U.S. Army, she decided to go to Cosmetology school in November 2015, where she enrolled at the Aveda Institute Birmingham. While attending school, she obtained a job as a Makeup Artist and Sales Associate for M.A.C. and learned more in-depth techniques and trends. This, also, was the start of building her clientele. She graduated from Aveda January 2017, and continued to work for M.A.C. as a Permanent Artist until October 2017.

She has experience in runway makeup working in numerous shows such as NY Fashion Week, LA Fashion Week, Miami Fashion Week, Birmingham Fashion Week, and Magic City Fashion Week in Birmingham, Alabama. She has worked with Clothing Designers such as Shalaja Swimwear, Kenya B., Splashed by DKG, and Love and Oscar. Her work has been published in the Essenes Magazine, and “B Collective” Bridal Magazine. She also has experience in Editorial Artistry and Body Painting. She is very passionate about her craft and exudes the true meaning of an “Artist”. The opportunities have made her come to love the industry more and more and will continue to go wherever it takes her!

BEHIND THE BUSINESS:

Janina is a mother to her son, Jabauri, and her favorite color is GREEN. Outside of the “Beauty World”, she enjoys weightlifting/fitness training, hiking, basketball, dancing, DIY Projects, and spending with close family and friends.
